Kakku is a remote complex of more than 2,000 Buddhist stupas southeast of Inle Lake. Many are centuries old, and the dense forest of spires is an important religious site for the Pa-O people. It takes planning to reach, but the setting and scale make it one of the region's strongest excursions.
