Sombrero Island

Sombrero Island is a small, hat-shaped island off the coast of Tinagba in Camarines Sur province, named for its resemblance to a sombrero when seen from a distance. It has a white sand beach, clear water, and the kind of unspoiled quiet that the bigger Philippine resort islands lost years ago.

The island is usually visited as a day trip from Naga City, about two hours away by road and boat. There are basic beach cottages for overnight stays. Snorkelling around the island is good, with healthy coral close to shore. It is not a well-known destination even within the Philippines, which is precisely its charm.
