The Myeongnyang Battle Monument commemorates Admiral Yi Sun-shin's victory in the 1597 Battle of Myeongnyang during the Japanese invasions of Korea. The monument was moved away during the colonial period and later returned to the strait area, where it now fits naturally with Jindo Tower and the battle views.
