Qimei Lighthouse stands near the southern end of the island, a small white light built in 1939 during the Japanese period. It was the last lighthouse built in Taiwan under Japanese rule, and it still feels like a practical maritime marker rather than a grand monument.
The main reason to come is the setting. The lighthouse gives you a good excuse to reach the south coast and look back across Cimei's open, wind-scoured edge.
