Dahan Stronghold is a former military fort on Nangan, built in the 1970s when the Matsu Islands were still heavily militarised. The tunnels, gun positions, and sea-facing concrete passages have since been opened as a visitor site.
It pairs naturally with nearby Beihai Tunnel. Together they give a clear sense of how close these islands sat to the Cold War front line between Taiwan and mainland China.
