Kilkee Beach

Sheltered horseshoe beach on Moore Bay, protected from the Atlantic by the Duggerna Reef

Kilkee's beach curves around Moore Bay, a horseshoe of sand sheltered from the open Atlantic by the Duggerna Reef at its mouth. That shelter makes it one of the safest swimming beaches on this exposed coast, and it has regularly been awarded a Blue Flag.

The seafront is lined with the Victorian summer houses that made Kilkee a resort, and the beach is the town's social centre on any warm day. Kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and surfing lessons are available from operators in town, and there's a dive centre at the north end of the bay.
