Pollock Holes

Natural tidal rock pools on the Duggerna Rocks at the west end of the bay

The Pollock Holes are natural swimming pools in the flat rock shelves of the Duggerna Rocks at the western end of Kilkee Bay. They're exposed at low tide and refilled with fresh seawater by every high tide, so the water is clear and calm even when the Atlantic beyond is rough.

They're a Kilkee institution and a lovely place for a swim or to watch the rock-pool life. Go around low tide, when the rock shelves are exposed and easy to walk on.
