Morriscastle Beach

Blue Flag beach adjoining Ballinesker, where Saving Private Ryan was filmed

Address Kilmuckridge, Wexford

Morriscastle Beach is a long, undeveloped strand on the Wexford coast near Kilmuckridge. It holds a Blue Flag designation for water quality and connects at its southern end with Ballinesker Beach — where Steven Spielberg shot the Normandy landing sequences for Saving Private Ryan in 1998.

The beach is backed by dunes rather than development, which keeps it quiet even in summer. Good for walking and swimming when the weather cooperates. Facilities are minimal: a car park and basic amenities. Access is off the R742 coast road.
