Beamish, The Living Museum of the North

Huge open-air museum of North East life, with a 1900s town, a pit village and working trams

Beamish is an open-air museum of life in the North East, spread over 350 acres between Newcastle and Durham. Buildings brought from across the region have been rebuilt in a 1900s town with shops, a bank and a pub, a pit village and colliery where you can go underground, a 1820s farm and a 1950s town. Trams and buses run between them, and the staff are in costume and in character. Allow a full day. Your ticket is valid for a year.
