King John's Palace

Ruined thirteenth-century hall house in Heaton Park, known locally as King John's Palace

The ruined shell of a thirteenth-century fortified house in Heaton Park, properly the camera of Adam of Jesmond, a local baron. It was in existence by 1267. The link to King John is a later legend. Free to see from the park paths. The pin is approximate.
