The ruins of a castle rebuilt by Edward I and Edward II, where the knights who murdered Thomas Becket are said to have hidden. Little more than the keep and gatehouse survive, but the grounds are a public park with the best view of the river and the viaduct. The courthouse museum is open in summer.
