The volunteer-run railway runs steam and diesel trains between Embsay, two miles north-east of Skipton, and Bolton Abbey station, a walk from the priory and the Strid. Besides ordinary services there are dining trains, afternoon teas and murder mysteries, and in the quieter months steam and diesel driving footplate experiences, where you fire and then drive the engine over the line under a crew's tuition. The railway asks you to email rather than phone where possible.
