Dornoch Beach

Miles of wide, pale sand and dunes running south from the town towards Dornoch Point.

Dornoch's beach starts at the end of Beach Road, a few minutes from the cathedral, where there are toilets and parking. It runs for miles in both directions. To the south, Dornoch Sands curve round towards Dornoch Point and the mouth of the firth. To the north, the shore gets rockier, with rock pools to poke about in.

It's one of the best beaches on Scotland's east coast. The water is cold, and outside July and August you will share it mainly with dog walkers and oystercatchers.
