Ben Rinnes

Granite hill southwest of Dufftown (841 m) with a well-made path and views over eight old counties.

Ben Rinnes is the granite hill that dominates the skyline of Speyside, 8 km southwest of Dufftown. A single main path climbs from a nearby car park. The Friends of Ben Rinnes have done a lot of work to rebuild it and limit erosion, so the climb is straightforward for anyone used to hill walking.

From the rocky top at 841 metres, on a clear day you can see eight counties, from Aberdeenshire to Caithness, and the Moray coast. Dufftown's Highland games include a 22 km hill race over the summit and back.
