The old branch line from Keith lost its passenger trains in 1968 and its last freight around 1991. Volunteers reopened it in 2000, and it now runs 11 miles between Dufftown and Keith Town via Drummuir. The trains are 1950s diesel railcars, and the trip takes about 45 minutes each way.
Trains run from Friday to Sunday through the summer season, roughly May to September, with Santa specials at Christmas. Dufftown station, at the north end of town near Glenfiddich, is the railway's base and has a café, the Sidings.
