Zip World runs three sites in North Wales, all on old industrial or forest land. This one, at the old Llechwedd slate caverns about a mile north of Blaenau, has underground ropes, cavern rides and zip lines, along with the Deep Mine Tour. At Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda, near Bangor, is Velocity, which it bills as the fastest zip line in the world. Fforest, above Betws-y-Coed, has tree-top courses and the Fforest Coaster.
It is polished and commercial, but the slate country setting is real. Book ahead, and check opening times and ride status, especially outside the main season. Bookings are online or by phone; there is no public email address.
