An east-facing bay of clean golden sand between limestone and sandstone cliffs. It was once the private beach of the Cawdors at Stackpole Court; the steps and gateway on the northern approach were built for them. There is no road, which is what keeps it so lovely: the walk is half a mile over the clifftop from the National Trust car park at Stackpole Quay, or 1.3 miles along the coast path from Broad Haven South.
It has been named among the best beaches in the world and in Britain more than once. In summer it fills up, but rarely as much as beaches you can drive to.
