French River Provincial Park

Waterway park protecting the historic French River canoe route.

French River Provincial Park protects much of the 110-km waterway between Lake Nipissing and Georgian Bay. It is not a tidy roadside park so much as a canoe country corridor, with rocky shores, backcountry campsites, portages, channels, and fishing water.

For a serious visit, plan a paddle route. For a short stop, use the visitor centre area and nearby trails to understand why this river mattered as a travel route and why it still pulls people off the highway.
