The French River Visitor Centre sits near the Highway 69 crossing and is the easiest way to make sense of the river without heading into the backcountry. Its exhibits cover the Indigenous, French, and English histories of people travelling, trading, and living along the water.
The building is worth noticing too. It won a Governor General's Medal in Architecture, and its glass, wood, and concrete sit low against the bedrock rather than trying to dominate the river valley.
