That distinction matters more here than almost anywhere. Zicatela proper — the Mexican Pipeline — is not a learner's wave; it is a heavy, fast beach break that puts experienced surfers in hospital, and lessons do not happen on it. Beginners go to La Punta at the south end, or to Carrizalillo, a small cove with a gentle right. A school that tells you otherwise is selling you an injury.
