An ecological reserve on the northern shore of Lake Catemaco, in the last substantial patch of lowland rainforest at this latitude anywhere on the American Pacific side — Los Tuxtlas is the northernmost tropical rainforest in the Americas, and this is a piece of it.
What they run is a guided walk through the forest with the mineral spring, the volcanic mud bath, a temazcal steam ceremony, and a boat across the lake. The site has a slightly famous second life as the location for Apocalypto and for a long tradition of curanderos; Catemaco is Mexico's witchcraft town and the reserve sits in the middle of that.
