Open since 1999 and the oldest school in town, teaching on the beaches around Puntas at the north end of Rincón. The season matters here more than almost anywhere in the Caribbean: the north-west coast picks up Atlantic groundswell from roughly November to March, which is when Rincón becomes a serious surf town and when the good breaks — Domes, Maria's, Tres Palmas — are working. In summer the same beaches are flat and it is a swimming and snorkelling coast instead.
Beginners are taught on the gentler sand-bottom beaches rather than the reef points, which is the right way round.
