The Range is Slab City's open-air performance space: a desert stage, seating area, lights, and sound gear assembled from whatever the community could make work. In the cooler season it hosts Saturday evening music and oddball performances, with residents and travelers taking turns on stage.
It is not polished nightlife, and that is the appeal. Check locally before counting on a show, bring water and a flashlight, and leave before the drive out feels uncertain.
