The Salto Suizo drops about sixty metres down a vertical wall in the Cordillera del Ybytyruzú, and the park built around it is the most complete outdoor operation in southern Paraguay. There is a toll gate on the road in, a campsite at the foot of the falls, a balneario and natural pools, a hanging bridge, marked trails up to the Cerro de la Cruz and its mirador, rappel down the rock and a zipline across it, and a restaurant.
The falls are the draw, and the trails, the balneario and the rappel are what fill a day there.
Colonia Independencia is a German-Paraguayan farming colony and this is its hinterland; the mountains behind it are a reserva de recursos manejados rather than a national park, so the access is private and the trails are the park's own. Everything is booked by phone or on the WhatsApp behind the green button; there is no online checkout.
