Siguniang Mountain is about 220 kilometres west of Chengdu, reached via Dujiangyan and Wolong. Direct buses from Chengdu's Chadianzi station to Rilong take five to six hours, depending on road conditions. The route passes through Wolong Panda Reserve, and breaking the journey there to visit the giant panda research base is a logical and rewarding detour.
Private cars and tour vehicles follow the same route and are the faster option for groups of two or more. The road through the Wolong gorge is spectacular and occasionally subject to closure after heavy rain or snowfall — check conditions if visiting in spring or after storms. There is no airport nearby; the closest is Chengdu.
