Most visitors approach Bhitarkanika by road from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, or Paradip, continuing to boat points such as Khola or Gupti. Public transport reaches nearby towns, but a hired car makes the trip much simpler because boat schedules and park entry formalities rarely align neatly with buses.
The nearest railheads are in the wider Kendrapara and Bhadrak/Cuttack corridor rather than at the park gate. Start early: road distances in coastal Odisha can be slow, especially after rain.
