Killahoey Strand is the long sandy beach just east of Dunfanaghy, about three miles of it, facing into Sheephaven Bay with Horn Head behind. Because the bay is sheltered it is one of the safer places to swim on this coast, and the water sports shacks in the village use it.
At low tide it is a fine walk along the sand towards Portnablagh, and the village pubs and cafés are a few minutes away when the weather turns.
