The Cunnigar

Three-kilometre sand spit across Dungarvan Bay, with salt marsh and birdlife

The Cunnigar (An Coinigéar) is a 3-kilometre sand spit reaching out from the Ring peninsula into Dungarvan Bay. It defines the western edge of the bay and traps the little River Brickey behind it in shoals and salt marshes that are good for birdwatching.

A grassy path runs along the spit and is walkable at all states of the tide, with views across the bay to Dungarvan on one side and the open sea on the other.
