Rezzo is the highest and most remote village in the upper Impero Valley, an ancient mountain settlement that was a stronghold of the Clavesana family in the medieval period. The ruins of their palace-fortress stand at the village's highest point, and the streets below are still largely medieval in character — stone, steep, and largely unaltered by the 20th century.
The village is surrounded by one of the largest beech forests in Liguria. The Giara di Rezzo, the stream that drains this part of the valley, runs through scenery that becomes increasingly wild as you move away from the cultivated terraces of the lower valley. The forested slopes above Rezzo are good walking country in summer and autumn, with marked trails leading into the Ligurian Prealps.
Rezzo has a small alimentari and not much else. The drive up from Lucinasco is itself worthwhile for the views back down the valley toward the sea.
