Captain Cook Birthplace Museum

Museum of James Cook's life and voyages in the park where he was born

The navigator James Cook was born in 1728 in a cottage in Marton, now Stewart Park, and a granite vase marks the spot. The museum beside it covers his childhood in the area and his three Pacific voyages, including the peoples he met and what those encounters meant for them.
