Haworth is a small stone village climbing a steep hill above the Worth valley, with the moors rising behind it. From 1820 the Brontë family lived in the parsonage at the top of the village, and here Charlotte, Emily and Anne wrote Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Their home is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum, next to the church and graveyard where most of the family are buried.
The cobbled Main Street, lined with cafés, bookshops and pubs, runs downhill from the church. Behind the parsonage, paths lead out onto the moors to the Brontë waterfall and to Top Withens, the ruined farmhouse often linked with Wuthering Heights. At the bottom of the village, Haworth station is on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, a heritage steam line from Keighley.
