Edinburgh Airport sits eight miles west of the centre and handles most major European cities and a growing list of long-haul routes. The Airlink 100 bus runs every ten minutes to Waverley Bridge in the centre (around 30 minutes); the tram covers the same route via Murrayfield and Princes Street; a taxi to the centre is around £25 and takes 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
By train, Waverley is the main station, sitting in the valley between the Old and New Towns — you arrive in the middle of everything. London King's Cross is four and a half hours by direct LNER service; Glasgow is fifty minutes; York three hours. Some long-distance and commuter services also call at Haymarket to the west, which is closer to the West End.
By bus, long-distance coaches arrive at the St Andrew Square bus station, two minutes from Princes Street.
