Invermoriston is a small village on the A82, eleven kilometres north of Fort Augustus, where the road to Skye branches west. Its best-known sight is Telford's old bridge of 1813, which crosses the River Moriston just above the point where it crashes through a rocky gorge to the loch. It carried the main road until a new bridge replaced it in the 1930s, and now it's a free viewpoint a two-minute walk from the car park.
It's the most worthwhile short stop on the west shore between Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus.
