Brinkies Brae is the 94-metre hill directly behind Stromness. A short climb up from the lanes behind the main street gets you to the top, from where the whole town, the harbour, Hoy Sound and the hills of Hoy are laid out below.
It's the place to understand the shape of Stromness — one street tucked between the hill and the sea — and a fine spot to watch the ferry come in from Scrabster.
