The island is ten miles long, has about 150 residents, and exists for Bloody Bay Wall — a vertical drop that begins in six metres of water and goes past a thousand, with the top shallow enough to spend an hour along it. It is the single most celebrated wall dive in the Caribbean and the boat ride to it is ten minutes.
Out of the water there is Booby Pond, a Ramsar site holding the largest red-footed booby colony in the western hemisphere, and very little else — which is the point. The airstrip is crossed by the island's one road, and the traffic rule is that aircraft have priority.
