A receptive operator based in Tlalpujahua itself, which makes it the rare company selling the monarchs from the eastern side of the sanctuaries rather than from Morelia or Mexico City. They publish no street address, so the pin is on the town.
In town they run the Dos Estrellas mine, the half-buried church of the old parish swallowed by a mudslide in 1937, the Santuario del Carmen and the Franciscan convent, and a workshop where you blow your own Christmas bauble — Tlalpujahua makes them by the million. From November to March they go up to Sierra Chincua or El Rosario for the butterflies; in July and August they run a night walk for the fireflies. Longer packages pair Tlalpujahua with El Oro across the state line, or tour Michoacán over three days.
