Hermosillo is hot and sprawling, and most visitors use it as a base: the Seri coast and Isla Tiburón are two hours west, the Río Sonora villages a couple of hours northeast, and the Pinacate desert a long drive north. Operators here run all of them as day trips or short overnights.
