Robie House

Frank Lloyd Wright's 1910 Prairie Style masterpiece, considered the most important house in American architecture

Frank Lloyd Wright's 1910 Robie House is the most architecturally significant building in Hyde Park and one of the most important houses in American architectural history — the definitive expression of the Prairie Style, with its horizontal lines, cantilevered roof overhangs, art glass windows, and integration of built-in furniture into a unified architectural concept.

The house is administered by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust and offers guided tours throughout the day. The tours are the only means of seeing the interior, which is fully restored to Wright's original specifications. The house is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 5757 S Woodlawn Avenue; near the University of Chicago campus. Tours book quickly; advance reservation recommended.
