KAM Isaiah Israel

KAM Isaiah Israel is a striking Hyde Park synagogue built in 1924, with a Byzantine-influenced exterior and a minaret-like smokestack. The congregation combines two long-running Chicago Jewish communities, Isaiah Israel and Kehilath Anshe Ma'ariv.

The interior is the main reason to visit, with elaborate plasterwork and unusual stained-glass human figures. Check access before going, since it is an active place of worship rather than a museum.
