A lakefront performance space in Lincoln Park that hosts visiting theatre productions from Chicago storefront theatre companies during summer. The Theater on the Lake building — a 1920 field house on the lakefront path — provides a unusual outdoor-adjacent setting for theatre. The programme runs June through August.
Lincoln Park is also home to several of Chicago's important storefront theatres in the surrounding neighbourhood: the Apollo Theater, the Steppenwolf annex spaces, and the Victory Gardens Theater at the Biograph on Lincoln Avenue. The neighbourhood's theatre density is high relative to comparable residential areas in American cities.
