Rosehill Cemetery

Rosehill Cemetery is one of Chicago's great old burial grounds, less famous than Graceland but still rich in local history. Civil War soldiers, civic figures, and elaborate Bohemian statuary give the cemetery more texture than a quick glance suggests.

The Gothic limestone gate, built in 1864, is one of the few structures in the city that predates the Great Chicago Fire. The grounds are best approached as a quiet walk through Chicago history rather than a checklist of famous graves.
