Museum Campus Chicago

Lakefront park clustering the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium on a peninsula south of the Loop

A lakefront park south of the Loop that clusters three of Chicago's major cultural institutions: the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, and the Adler Planetarium. The campus was created in 1998 by rerouting Lake Shore Drive west, giving the museum buildings direct pedestrian access to the lakefront and to each other.

The campus is one of the densest concentrations of world-class museums in any American city — the combined collections include one of the best natural history museums in North America, the largest indoor aquarium in the Northern Hemisphere, and one of the most comprehensive planetariums in the world. Budget a full day if you intend to see more than one. Free access to the park itself; individual museum admissions apply. L Red Line to Roosevelt, then walk or take a bus.
