Lathrop Canyon is a long backcountry route in Canyonlands that drops from the Island in the Sky mesa toward the Colorado River. The round trip is about 17 miles, crossing open mesa before descending steep switchbacks into a boulder-strewn wash that leads toward the White Rim Road.
It is a serious day hike or overnight backcountry route, best for experienced hikers who want a quieter canyon experience beyond the park's short overlooks and arch trails.
