Ñeembucú is a flooded-grassland province that most of Paraguay drives past, and it holds the birds — the cappuccino seedeaters, the saffron-cowled blackbird, the rails and crakes of the pastizales del sur — that serious listers cross the continent for. The Circuito de las Aves is a local operation running guided outings from Pilar into that country, group or private, with specialist guides who talk about the species and the habitat, good binoculars supplied, and photographs sent on afterwards.

There is no price list and there cannot be one: the length and the party size set the cost. Ring Laura Acuña, +595 971 644 215, and book in advance — they say plainly that turning up does not work.

They publish no street address, so the pin here is the town.
