East Beach

East Beach on Meizhou Island's seaward side is a clean stretch of sand backed by low dunes and facing the open sea. The water is generally calm in summer and the beach sees relatively few visitors compared to the temple — the majority of pilgrims who come to the island never make it this far. This makes it an unexpectedly peaceful place to spend time between visits to the religious complex.

The beach is most rewarding in the early morning, when the low sun lights the water and the temple smoke from the ridge above drifts over the dunes. A path from the beach leads up the island's spine toward the temple complex, making it possible to combine both in a single circuit. Facilities are minimal — a few basic food stalls operate in season.
