Getting There

Maijishan is 45 kilometres southeast of Tianshui and most easily visited from there. Tourist buses run from Tianshui South Railway Station (the high-speed rail station) directly to the Maijishan scenic area entrance, taking about 45 minutes. The service runs regularly during daylight hours and the last return bus is in the late afternoon — check current schedules at the station.

Tianshui itself is well-served by high-speed rail, with direct connections to Xi'an (about 2 hours) and Lanzhou (under an hour). It is straightforward to visit Maijishan as a long day trip from either city, though staying overnight in Tianshui allows a more relaxed pace.

Entry tickets come in tiers. The standard ticket covers the main walkway system with views into most caves. A premium ticket, which must usually be booked in advance and comes with a guide, gives access to the most important interior spaces including the Northern Wei and Tang caves that are otherwise closed.
