Tall-e Takht (Citadel)

Enormous Achaemenid stone platform with plateau-wide views

The massive stone platform of Tall-e Takht dominates the northern end of the site. At roughly 200 by 130 metres, it is one of the largest ancient platforms in Iran. The citadel likely served as a fortified treasury and administrative centre. The platform was built with enormous dressed stone blocks and later reused and expanded in the post-Achaemenid period. From the top there are wide views across the plateau to the other monuments.
