Jindo Tower stands near Jindo Bridge on Manggeumsan Mountain, where it looks over the fast water separating the island from the mainland. The view is the main reason to go, but the tower also points to the Battle of Myeongnyang, the naval victory associated with Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
It is a useful first or last stop if you arrive by road, since it gives the island some geographic shape before you drive farther south and west.
