Corbridge is an attractive stone village on the north bank of the Tyne, a few miles east of Hexham. Its seventeenth-century bridge was the only one on the Tyne to survive the great flood of 1771. The village has a fortified vicar's pele tower beside the church, several good pubs and delis, and more independent shops than its size would suggest.
Just west of the village is Corbridge Roman Town, the remains of Coria. It was a supply town just south of Hadrian's Wall and the most northerly town of the Roman Empire.
