Whitby Surf School works from the promenade on West Cliff Beach, next to the bottom of the Cliff Lift, and also runs sessions at Sandsend. It teaches surfing and stand-up paddleboarding, including sunrise SUP paddles and introductions to SUP on the sea, hires full kit, and runs a summer beach club, a women's surf club and kids' clubs. Equipment is included in lessons; booking ahead is advised in summer, and the site lists only email and a booking form. At high tide, reach the beach by the cliff lift or the path past the Pavilion rather than along the sand from the West Pier. The pin is approximate.
